The first project: the development of an on-demand shared cab



The mobility transformation requires rethinking individual transportation. In the future, individual mobility must continue to be available at all times but must also be sustainable and economically attractive. In order to abstain from using personal cars in inner-city traffic in the future, it is necessary to further develop the cab system, thus enabling fast and inexpensive travel by means of a direct pick-up – for example, from home or from the workplace. In this context, e.Volution GmbH just started starting the development of an emission-free shared cab that can transport up to seven people. This future mobility can be requested flexibly and at short notice via app for an economic on-demand shuttle operation and its performance can be significantly increased with special infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

e.Volution Shuttle Study

The shared cab will offer a novel travel experience for passengers through its design and equipment: It will be possible to enter the vehicle comfortably, conveniently and upright. Wheelchairs or strollers will have barrier-free access. In the spacious interior, passengers can sit opposite each other and use the travel time for themselves.

e.Volution GmbH is developing this shared cab, its production concept and integration into an urban mobility system. The company

  • relies on existing components (off-the-shelf components) for a competitive, affordable and robust vehicle design of the shared cab,
  • designs the vehicle purposefully in order to significantly reduce efforts for maintenance and repair,
  • focuses on digitally integrated, model-based development with MBSE (Model-based Systems Engineering) in order to achieve significantly faster and more cost-effective and adaptable product development,
  • has a high level of expertise in setting up micro-factories and vehicle homologation for the production concept of the shared cab,
  • integrates the shared cab into a holistic mobility system, for example by developing apps for on-demand service, ensuring on-demand availability of the vehicle using artificial intelligence, or setting up central mobility stations.
